Naas Badminton Code of Conduct & Membership Terms
Introduction:
This code of conduct & Membership terms outlines the expectations for all members, players, coaches, officials, and spectators of Naas Badminton Club. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in the sport.
Membership Eligibility: Prioritizing Our Local Community
At Naas Badminton Club, we're passionate about providing a fun and accessible space for badminton enthusiasts in Kildare. Due to the club's popularity, we currently have a waiting list for membership. To ensure fairness and optimize court usage, membership is limited to residents of County Kildare only. This prioritizes individuals who live closest to the club and can most readily access our facilities.
We understand circumstances change. If you move outside of County Kildare after becoming a member, please inform the club committee as soon as possible. In such cases, your membership will be cancelled, and a pro-rated refund will be issued based on the remaining membership period.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
If you do reside outside County Kildare and have not informed the club then please do so immediately as it goes against club policy. We recommend checking out the Badminton Ireland club finder tool to locate badminton clubs closer to your area. You can find it on their website at https://www.badmintonireland.com/.
Membership and Insurance:
At Naas Badminton Club, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all skill levels. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, all members are required to be registered members of Badminton Ireland. This not only provides players with personal accident and public liability insurance, but also helps maintain a clean record within the badminton community. Proof of valid Badminton Ireland membership (including insurance coverage) must be provided upon registration and continuing play with our club. Players can not partake in any games or training without Badminton Ireland insurance.

Maintaining a Positive Atmosphere
Kindness and Respect: Our club's ethos is built on kindness, sportsmanship, and fostering a strong sense of community. We believe that everyone deserves to participate in a safe and inclusive environment. Therefore, members who are currently banned from competing in tournaments due to inappropriate & unsafe behaviour or are under any disciplinary probation imposed by Badminton Ireland will also not be allowed to participate in Naas Badminton Club social games until the probation period has been concluded. This is in the interest of safeguarding our members until Badminton Ireland lifts the ban.
Rationale: This policy aligns with our core values and ensures that everyone feels comfortable and respected while playing. We want to maintain an environment where members can focus on having fun, improving their skills, and building positive relationships with others.
Open Communication:
We encourage open communication with our members. If you have any questions or concerns, or are currently under disciplinary action with Badminton Ireland, please reach out to the club committee.
Introducing New Members/Players:
As a small club with only three courts, we have a limited capacity for players. To ensure everyone has a chance to play, please coordinate with a Committee member before bringing new players.
By working together, we can ensure that Naas Badminton Club remains a positive and welcoming space for all badminton enthusiasts.
Additional Resources:
We recommend familiarizing yourself with any relevant national badminton association’s code of conduct which may provide additional resources and support.
Conclusion:
By upholding this Code of Conduct, we can ensure that Naas Badminton Club remains a place where everyone feels safe, respected, and can enjoy the game of badminton.
