How to Insure?

•To renew your insurance
with Badminton Ireland, please visit
their website and click on "Sport 80"
in the top right-hand corner.

•To reset your password and access your
personal account for payment, use
the email address you initially
provided. If you encounter any
difficulties, reach out to a committee
member for assistance.
•Occasionally when paying for the first time or renewing. You'll see a "membership pending" notification. Just let a committee member know you've paid and we can amend the details manually.
Why do we require Insurance?
MEMBERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
Being an affiliated player of Badminton, Ireland has several benefits, including the following:
1. Affiliated Players and Officers are covered under our insurance.
2. Affiliated Players can enter tournaments.
3. Affiliated Players can avail of our Teicnic Camps, which take place in August.
4. Affiliated Players and Coaches can attend our Coaches Conference, which also takes place in August.
5. Affiliated coaches can apply for our Coaches Licence, allowing additional insurance coverage and promotional opportunities, pending specific requirements.
6. Affiliated members can avail of reduced prices on our Coaching Courses.
7. Badminton Ireland also provides secure emails to officers in affiliated clubs for roles such as a club secretary and club safeguarding officer
INSURANCE – WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CLUBS AND PLAYERS?
Public Liability – protects registered Badminton Ireland Members and affiliated clubs against claims by third parties for property damage and bodily injury because of any negligence on the part of the affiliated club and/ or its registered members. The limit of indemnity is €6,500,000
Personal Accident – as the group personal accident policy offers a specified amount of cover during participation and/or training, providing the injury sustained results in the following within 12 calendar months. The Schedule of benefit is shown below.
Badminton Ireland club and member activities are insured through our brokers, O’Driscoll O’Neil, who have arranged cover with Sportscover Europe Limited.
Please note this insurance covers only affiliated players, and playing with or against non-affiliated players may void cover.
- The Public Liability policy covers meetings, badminton activities, and social/fundraising activities.
-The Personal Accident Policy covers injury while training or playing badminton (Full Affiliations Only).
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO MAKE A CLAIM?
As soon as possible, after the incident, please download or ask us to send you out an Insurance Incident report Form – this is a Word Document that can be edited and emailed to membership@badmintonireland.com. This notification must take place within 28 days of the incident.
Once Badminton Ireland & ODON confirm your Badminton Ireland affiliation, ODON will deal with you directly on the claim, and they will forward the full claims form for completion. It is essential to keep all receipts for expenses incurred.
